It’s been a while since my last review, but it’s great to be back! The Portuguese Factory have been kind enough to send me this Antiga Barbearia de Bairro Principe Real shaving cream for review. Over the last year and half, I have had the opportunity of trying several Portuguese made shaving creams, and have come to the conclusion that Portuguese shaving creams are indeed some of the best in the world! This Principe Real shaving cream is no exception. When I read the ingredients list I was really excited to try this one. Antiga Barbearia de Bairro Principe Real shaving cream contains natural ingredients such as pomegranate, aloe vera, sunflower oil, witch hazel, jojoba oil and lanolin. What a combination! I have lathered this shaving soap with several badger, boar and synthetic brushes and each time, within seconds, and very little water, I am met with a MOUND of super-creamy lather that is incredible slick and thick. Face lathering and bowl lathering both yielded the same amazing results. The scent is very fresh, and ‘green’. The aloe vera and pomegranate create a leafy and citrusy scent that is very pleasant. I have tried this cream using my Muhle R89, Gillette Tech and Gillette Superspeed, all loaded with the incredibly sharp Feather blade, and the lather is so cushioning and slick, I could barely feel the blade – just effortless glide, with completely smooth results. The post shave feel is amazing too – my face had zero irritation, and felt incredibly smooth with some of the closest shaves I have had in a long time. I can say, with any doubt, that Antiga Barbearia de Bairro Principe Real shaving cream has become my top favourite shaving cream, a spot that was previously held by the wonderful Portuguese made Ach. Brito Lavanda shaving cream. Portuguese Factory seriously offer some of the best prices on these wonderful products!
